Abstract

This is a qualitative study that aims to understand domestic violence from the point of view of the children who are the victims. Children who were the victims of violence and neglect were interviewed and their reports were analyzed to find units of meaning. We found that the life of these children is surrounded by sadness and bad memories, but also by hope, dreams and the joy of living, based on the "small nothings" of everyday life. Not always is the removal of the children from the family environment the best course. Families should be careful as one of the ways to avoid violence inside and outside the family, improving the quality of life of the children.
