This article is a theoretical discussion based on a bibliographic review and the practice of the authors on the use of the subcutaneous route as an alternative to drug treatment and hydration of cancer patients. It intends to report experience in a public hospital in Florianópolis, State of Santa Catarina. This study shows the importance of this route and the role of nurses in educating health professionals, patients and their families on the maintenance of the system.Downloads
