This thesis presents a discussion about the effectiveness of school management in public schools in the state of Minas Gerais, focusing on the work of the school manager, regarding the achievement of their learning and learning objectives. It proposed to investigate, in the context of the democratic and participatory school, the association between the evolution of educational results indicated by the Index of Basic Education Development (Ideb), created by the National Institute of Studies and Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) and the performance of the manager , considering the management model adopted by it, its training, its abilities and competences to apply management techniques and to lead its collaborators, in order to promote the learning and contribution to the formation of the students for the society, considering the context that permeates the community in which the school is inserted.
