Call for papers: Public art and its crossroads
The dossier "Public art and its crossroads" invites artists and/or researchers who are producing or thinking about poetic processes centered on collaboration based on public art. For decades the field called "public art" has been expanded, modified, tensioned. Having its roots in sculpture in the expanded field, in the articulations with relational aesthetics, in the participative and collaborative systems with non-artists, or even in the agency of processes that go beyond the limits of what is artistic in itself, public art has emerged under new determinations and assuming such distinct contours that today it has been recognized as "new genre public art". However, it is not uncommon to find, even in the "new genre public art", the lack of recognition of flaws, empty assumptions, discourses far from what happens in the practice of the work - the dissensions, conflicts, deviations and negotiations that are fundamental to work with and in Difference. Therefore, it is of interest here to think about this territory of conflict that makes up the public space and how it is possible to think and build notions of community through the arts.
