It is a case study which had the objective of getting to know the reality of mothers involved in the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). Semi-structured interviews were used in which the following empirical categories were identified: motherly feelings which surround the birth of a premature child, the impossibility of the mother to carry out her social roles, the closeness of mother and child made possible by the KMC, the pleasure felt in the Project being greater than the difficulties faced to carry it out and the contribuitions of the project. It explicits the contradictions that affect the dedication of mothers in the KMC and the way they feel, as well as the repercussions of applying this technology.Downloads
