The following paper is an integrative literature review aiming to investigate scientific production on the perioperative nursing care to heart surgery patient. Search was performed at SCIELO, BDENF, and LILACS databases matching terminologies nursing/surgery and nursing/cardiology. 33 studies were identified in the corresponding literature describing, contextualizing, and characterizing perioperative care in heart surgery, nursing diagnosis that are normal in this process as well as the patient's feelings and perceptions in coping with that surgical procedure. The publications suggest the implementation of a nursing process that should emphasize orientations and protocol elaboration specifics for that group of surgical procedure. In this perspective, in addition to publications that characterize and contextualize nursing care, it is essential to research the efficiency of such practices. The implementation of a practice based on evidence would be an exceptional contribution to the profession's scientific developmentDownloads
