Abstract

This is a quantitative retrospective study in a public hospital in the interior of the State of São Paulo. The objective was to identify the characteristics of the nursing workers who were on sick leave. A period of one year was chosen and the causes of leave were recorded. We found there is a high rate of sick leave and the most common diseases were osteomuscular, mental and respiratory problems and lesions with external causes. This study made it possible to identify the need for measures to promote, maintain and restore health.
