Abstract

Tomb sculptures are artistic expressions present in cemeteries and that present a rich historical context over certain periods. The artistic value attributed to these sculptures makes these cemeteries consecrate themselves as sources for studies in different areas. With the question of how cataloging can contribute so that tomb sculptures are understood as sources of information, this article is built with the objective of establishing cataloging guidelines and definition of metadata applicable to tomb sculptures. Method It makes use of bibliographical survey. The selected works provided the basis for identifying the metadata elements for tomb sculptures. To select the metadata patterns, the universe created by Riley (2009-2010) is presented, of which 3 patterns were used to catalog 3 tomb sculptures. As a result of the cataloging, a brief analysis is presented to discuss the behavior of the identified elements Result. As a result, it appears that the metadata elements identified are applicable for the cataloging of tomb sculptures and contribute to the structuring of the collection in cemeteries that wish to explore the identity and understanding of these sculptures by society.

  • Vivian Rosa Storti, Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho

    Master in Information Science from the Graduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Bachelor in Library and Information Science from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Currently she is a librarian at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), working as the Librarian in charge of the Specialized Technical Support Group in the General Coordination of Libraries (CGB) - Rectory of Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Working mainly on the following topics: Information Representation, Institutional Repositories, Open Science, Library Automation and Public Budget. ORCID https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5366-2102

  • Zaira Regina Zafalon, Universidade Federal de São Carlos

    She teaches at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). D. in Information Science (2012), Master in Communication and Semiotics (2006), specialist in Automated Information Systems in Science & Technology (1996), in Administration (2002) and in Higher Education (2003), and Bachelor in Librarianship and Documentation (1993). He is vice president of the Brazilian Association for Education in Information Science (ABECIN), in the Management 2019-2022. She leads the Research Group Technologies in Information Environments and Innovation - GPTAI (UFSCar) and collaborates with the Group of Studies and Research in Cataloging (GEPCat). She is a member of the Brazilian Association for Education in Information Science (ABECIN), the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Information Science (ANCIB), the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) and the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC). He has experience in Information Science, with emphasis on Organization and Representation of Information. Her research interests include: digital information environments, data and metadata, heritage, memory, and cultural identity. Over the years he has specialized in discussions on cataloging and automated cataloging; conceptual models of the bibliographic, museological and archival universe; metadata, standards and information representation structures; data exchange and conversion in information units. She developed the Scan for MARC, a syntactic and semantic interpreter of analog bibliographic records for the MARC21 Bibliographic Format, for which she was awarded at ANCIB and at the Regional Council of Library Science - 8th Region. She was honored in the City Council of São Carlos/SP.
