The terminological performance of the descriptors in Information Science of the SIB/USP Controlled Vocabulary in the manual, automatic and half-automatic indexing processes

Abstract

The terminological performance was evaluated, in the manual, automatic and half-automatic indexing processes, of the descriptors, which represent the Information Science domain in the SIBI/USP Controlled Vocabulary. It was possible to conclude that, in order to get a better performance (i.e., to adequately represent the content of the corpus), current descriptors in Information Science of the SIBi/USP Controlled Vocabulary must be extended and put in context by means of terminological definitions so that they can fulfill the information needs of users.
