OS INSTRUMENTOS DE PROTEÇÃO E A PRESERVAÇÃO DO PATRIMÔNIO UMBANDISTA BRASILEIRO

Abstract

The concern regarding the instruments of heritage protection arises alongside the concept of it, since protection is necessary as a way to preserve the history and culture of a certain group. The preservation instruments already have a more stabilized character when it comes to material heritage, mainly in relation to immovable and integrated assets. New instruments have emerged with the expansion of the heritage concepts, which began to consider not only material goods, but also immaterial heritage. Knowing the importance of the record for the recognition and preservation, in addition to the possibility of several applications, this article seeks to present its applicability to the protection of the cultural practices related to Umbanda, an Afro-Brazilian religion that, due to attacks of a prejudiced nature, has its practices constantly threatened, thus justifying the present study.
