From the considerations of Eni Orlandi, in Discurso e leitura (2012), and Eduardo Guimarães, in Semântica, enunciação e sentido (2018), thinking about how the differentiation between enunciator and author can point us to another reading gesture on Carolina Maria de Jesus’s Quarto de despejo (1960). We seek to problematize reading processes that end up erasing the heterogeneity of enunciative activity and ignore the division of the “speaking subject” into more than one position of/in the text. Questioning the reading work with Quarto de despejo that operates an impression of unity about being “black, poor and favela author”, we take the work of the work in another perspective, the discursive, we can see the understandable (ORLANDI, 2012) from the which the reader, as an effect, makes and problematizes the very condition of production of his reading.
